Interview with Dr. Meri Bura

Meri Bura – We are the creators of our own destiny

Meri Bura, a medical doctor, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb. She completed her studies in homeopathy at the London Homeopathic School LICH. She is a yoga instructor, has participated as a lecturer in numerous congresses, and is involved in various organizations. She is dedicated to promoting and improving women’s health, having developed a branded program for health enhancement and lifestyle change. Meri teaches you how to regain yourself, become a woman again, and says, “It all starts with the body.”

At the beginning of one of your articles, there was a question: “Who knows a woman better than another woman?” This question gently introduces us to what you are dedicated to. When did you decide that the focus of your work would be women’s health?

Meri: It sort of imposed itself naturally. The way I treat, the dedication in conversation, attention to emotions, gentle methods for healing have attracted women who deeply know that scientific medicine was created by male criteria, which we know are significantly different from those of women.

I chose the name Mulier, which means “woman” in Latin, precisely because of this, as my approach to a person, my diagnostic method, and my way of treatment are feminine – a gentle yet powerful approach. Motherly caring.

What are the factors of today’s lifestyle that contribute most to health problems?

Meri: The longer I work, the more my theory that emotions are the cause of illness is confirmed.
The Mulier method I created leads me through the causes to the symptoms with each person.
Negative emotions lead to disruptions in the functioning of the central and autonomic nervous systems that regulate the function of all organs.
The question is only which organ is weaker, which organ has reduced functioning due to stress, and how long negative emotions last.
This is reflected in the functioning of hormones, starting with the imbalance in the secretion of stress hormones (cortisol) to problems with the thyroid, problems with estrogens, progesterone, and of course, almost everyone experiences problems in the secretion of digestive hormones, which further worsen the situation.

In the body, a chronic inflammation is created, inflammation that originated from dissatisfaction.

So, it’s logical, if we want to solve the causes, to solve the cause of life dissatisfaction.

Negative emotions – very simply – are a sign that you are not living the life you want but the life you (think) you must live.

When the body senses a negative emotion, substances, neurotransmitters, and hormones are secreted that change the chemical composition of the body. It’s a well-known fact that stress acidifies the body, and where are all the other processes? According to the Mulier method, we know which negative emotion, which belief, and which behavior are the cause of the disease. The Mulier method reveals a network of hormonal connections and complexes that need to be resolved to balance the hormones. Understanding your life, your (wrong) attitudes, and making small (but for some, significant!) changes in your lifestyle can heal all diseases. Everyone can heal from the wrong way of life. The wrong way of life means nutrition that is not in line with daily needs and innate constitution, not satisfying your physical and mental needs, not knowing yourself and your life. And different rules apply to each person, so therapy is different for everyone, even if it might be the same diagnosis.

We know how important hormones are for the normal functioning of the body… they affect mood, energy, overall health. You write a lot about hormones and emphasize hormonal health. What are the main signs of hormonal imbalance?

Meri: Ignorance, ignorance, ignorance. Stress does not arise from a hectic life, obligations, or bad food. Stress arises from wrong choices, and ignorance is to blame for that. Many smart people enjoy their busy lives, their obligations, fast-food restaurants, and they are happy and successful because they chose it willingly. However, if you don’t know how to choose well, you live with the wrong people, do the wrong job, and become sick.

Stress starts with elevated cortisol levels, which manifest as nervousness and anger. If it lasts for a long time, cortisol is exhausted, and in the end, we react with complete fatigue, apathy. Prolonged cortisol secretion often leads to reduced progesterone levels in women, which manifests as constant moodiness and dissatisfaction. Elevated or decreased estrogen levels usually accompany this, which manifests as manic-depressive behavior or tearfulness. An exhausted thyroid gland is expressed as complete apathy. Our hormones are a direct indicator of our emotions.

You are dedicated to natural healing. You treat the causes of diseases and balance the spine, hormones, and emotions. Tell us more about that.

Meri: My way of treatment involves changing the diet plan, which means not only changing foods but also changing hydration and the rhythm of eating. In addition to changing the diet plan, I add herbal preparations that will help stabilize hormones. I also recommend individual physical activities and a program to remove emotional stress (which can be individual or group).

How important is it to continually listen to one’s own body?

Meri: It’s a process, it’s knowledge. It takes time. It’s best to teach children from an early age to trust themselves and their bodies; later, it’s often too late for that. Only those with strong will, desire, and a good reason are ready for this kind of learning. That’s why I organize workshops where I teach participants how they can help themselves and quickly improve their health and life. Everyone else has learned to seek help from doctors or anyone else. They don’t know any different, and what’s even more important, they don’t want to know any different. That’s why only those who are brave and motivated come to my workshops. The atmosphere is always stimulating, both for me and for the participants.

Can you highlight three most important things every woman should keep in mind?

Meri: Women forget that they are women because we live in a man’s world, by men’s rules.

But! The rule is to live by your own rules.

That should be known. It’s knowledge, just like the knowledge you gained to be a professional in your job. You studied for four years. If you wanted to be even better, you continued to study. And you keep educating yourself.

But what about life knowledge? Don’t you care that you are illiterate in life or don’t even know that it exists?

You only know that your boss annoys you, that you constantly have a urinary tract infection, that you’re gaining weight…?

You have no idea why. You have no knowledge of life.

And the most important thing is to know how to live and stay healthy. That’s what my workshops are about – for people to understand and learn the connection between the symptoms of illness and their way of life, and to have the tools to solve it.

Women need to know:

  • Pay attention to their emotions, and let them be the starting point for decision-making.
  • Regularly satisfy the needs of their soul and body, their hobbies, their passions.
  • Look good and nurture that image of themselves in their minds.

How can one resist the negative aspects of modern life and preserve their health?

Meri: There are no negative aspects of modern life; there is only an individually poorly designed life.

Ignorance, ignorance, ignorance.

And knowledge is power.

There are many wonderful, healthy, successful modern people. When people change, they get to know themselves and see that life is beautiful. In fact, it’s magnificent! And that there is no stress.

How do you help your clients, and what most often leads them to seek your help?

Meri: I help them with a holistic recommendation that includes a dietary plan, a list of herbal preparations to stabilize hormones, instructions for a lifestyle (exercise, breathing exercises, baths, essential oils…), and emotional anti-stress guidance (instructions for stress reduction and achieving life balance, attaining happiness). So, they get everything in one place. Medical tests are rarely necessary.

What are the basic differences between homeopathy and conventional medicine, and to what extent is homeopathy accepted by the medical profession in Croatia?

Meri: I don’t prescribe a lot of homeopathy even though I am a homeopath. Homeopathy is a remedy like any other. I believe and expect my patients, clients to be ready for lifestyle changes if they want to be healthy, not just a pill or a granule.

Taking homeopathy ultimately shows that the patient wants a pill, that they don’t want to change.

Those are not my patients.

My patients want change, a life transformation.

Those are the ones I want to work with. It takes courage and capacity to receive my dedication and the knowledge I provide. It’s teamwork. It’s a great blessing to have someone by your side who can advise you on health, emotions, hormones, life.

Your work program also includes organizing anti-stress programs. You are currently preparing for a program that will be held, as you mentioned, in the most beautiful place in the world. Can you tell us more about it?

Meri: From June 22nd to 25th, in Bol on the island of Brač, in a Dominican monastery, a spiritual practice “Return to Yourself, Peace in the Soul” will be held with the aim of gaining knowledge to regain one’s strength, achieve clarity of mind, empower the heart, and actively design one’s life so that in life, we can be assertive rather than letting life reduce us to reacting to what happens around us.

We are the creators of our own destiny. We need to learn how to do it and move in the direction of our desires and pleasures. That’s where the answer lies. We need to dream. To imagine our life.

What does abundance mean to you?

Meri: To me, abundance is when I have more of everything than I need, when my fridge is full of food, when people express love to me at every step, when my heart is full of inspiration, when I want to sing all day, when in one day I see several of my friends, when I have more money than I need, when my loved ones are healthy and active, when my fig tree bears fruit very well, when the sun shines, when there is a lot of snow, when people are too happy (and I never think they’ll cry tomorrow!), when I constantly meet new people, when I experience peace and silence as a fireworks display, when I go to the best hotels and the best wellness centers, when I can fly if I feel like it, when the best job opportunities come to me, when I receive love in every possible way, when I don’t have to work to have abundance, when I become rich accidentally, when I don’t try too hard but still get results, when I am brave and full of strength, when I have plans and goals, when everything I love is offered to me at every turn.

And when I know that I can be equally happy without all of that.

And when I know that if I don’t have all of that, I can easily get it.

Because I am positive in my mind and heart.

Because life shimmers before my eyes – because I see every ray of sunshine. Because I dream in colors.

That’s what I love. That’s my abundance.

Find abundance through fasting and silence:

Abundance is all around us. Don’t be afraid of abundance.
